Markets measured by their share of every year’s US hail reports since 1996 — not by raw counts, which mostly measure how many people were there to report.

1996–2025 · top 25 of 689
A market is a town of 10,000 or more and everything within 25 mi of it — the largest such town in its own circle, so neighbouring suburbs do not each take a row. Ranked on share of the US season, not on report counts. The circles overlap, so these shares do not add to 100%.
Conversations are open in Oklahoma City, Dallas–Fort Worth and Denver to start, so the rooms that exist have people in them.

CompareYour market, Dallas, TX, ranks #9 of 689 on 0.46% of the US season — highlighted above. Its circle is drawn from the town centre, so its count differs a little from the figures beside this, which are measured from the exact spot you chose.
Counts start at 1996, when NWS reporting standardised. Nationally, reports rose 62-fold between the 1950s and the 2000s — spotter networks and mobile phones, not weather. A raw all-time total would mostly measure when people here started reporting, so this product does not compute one.
1,260 reports in the sparsely-reported era
Kept separate on purpose. These years are real observations but the reporting rate underneath them is not comparable to the modern window, so adding the two together produces a number that looks like a fact and is not. It is shown because a market that was being hit in 1970 is worth knowing about — and it is never added to anything above, and never used to rank a market.

Share of each market’s own reports by month, 1955–2025. Dallas peaks in April; Wichita a month later, in May. Shares, not counts: a count would mostly say which market has more people to report.

Both markets are measured within 25 mi of the town centre, so the two columns are like for like — which is not how the figures elsewhere on this page are measured, from the exact spot you chose.
Busiest month: Apr, which takes 32% of every report here. Uses all 1955–2025, deliberately: the reporting bias is roughly uniform within a year, so the month distribution is trustworthy even where the annual totals are not. The shape of the year is the fact; the height of the pile is not.
